According to the police, the suspect repeatedly assaulted the minors over several weeks. However, a vigilant neighbour eventually alerted authorities, prompting immediate action.
Investigators quickly rescued the children and transferred them to the Enugu State Ministry of Gender Affairs for medical evaluation and trauma care.
Moreover, preliminary examinations confirmed evidence consistent with abuse, and the police vowed to ensure justice for the victims.
Police spokesperson DSP Daniel Ndukwe said in a statement that “the command has launched a full investigation.” He added that the suspect would face charges under relevant sections of the law.
Furthermore, Ndukwe assured the public that the police remain committed to protecting children from abuse and ensuring accountability for offenders.
Residents expressed anger and disbelief over the horrific crime, calling for swift prosecution. “This is heartbreaking and unimaginable,” one social media user wrote on X.
Additionally, another commenter added, “No mercy for such wickedness — let justice prevail.”
Child rights activists also condemned the assault and urged the government to strengthen community reporting systems.
They emphasized that early intervention could prevent similar incidents in the future. As investigations continue, the Enugu Police arrests man case has reignited national conversations about child abuse and the need for stricter protection laws in Nigeria.
