Benue Okada Riders Protest The Killing and Snatching of Members Motorcycles in Gboko

Commercial motorcycle operators in Gboko, Benue State, staged a massive protest today to demand action after the alleged murder of four colleagues.

The Okada riders blocked major roads and shut down businesses, as they accused armed suspects of killing four members and stealing their motorcycles.

Moreover, the protest sparked fear in the town because residents stayed indoors while riders burned tyres and chanted war songs.

One protester said the attacks had become “daily occurrences” and urged the authorities to protect their lives and livelihoods.

Meanwhile, the Gboko local government chairman condemned the violence and assured that security officials would bring the perpetrators to justice.

Police confirmed they received the incident report and launched investigations into the killings and bike snatchings.

Furthermore, community leaders called for special patrol units, increased lighting and surveillance to prevent further losses.

Social media carried the agitation swiftly, with netizens posting slogans like, “Enough is enough Gboko Okadas” and “Protect our riders before it’s too late.

Analysts say the protest highlights broader insecurity affecting Okada riders across Benue, where many depend on those bikes for survival.

Meanwhile, the governor’s office reiterated its commitment to restoring peace and warned that sponsors of such violence would be prosecuted.

With tensions high, residents hope authorities will act quickly and decisively.
