Kidnapped victim Aisha Wahab has been Freed after a ₦20 million ransom was paid regained her freedom. The victim was abducted by gunmen from Auchi in Edo State on October 18, 2025. Her family faced a chilling demand for a ₦20 million ransom, with kidnappers threatening to k!ll her if they failed to pay.
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu organised social media donations, and the full ransom came through only days later. Meanwhile, officials confirmed no arrests yet and the local police offered no clear statement on their involvement.
According to community reports, Aisha Wahab recorded a harrowing video during captivity pleading for help. Netizens flooded social media with relief and demand for stronger security.
One user wrote: “Glad you’re home safe Aisha — now let’s end this kidnapping nightmare.” Another tweeted: “This is not enough; we need arrests and justice for victims.” Additionally, security analysts view this case as part of Nigeria’s widening kidnapping crisis across Edo and other states.
Consequently, many Nigerians called on authorities to act swiftly and protect vulnerable citizens. The incident highlights the urgent need to reform responses to abduction and ransom demands nationwide.
