Tension in Kaduna state as bandits kills pastor, abduct 20 others in Kaura Local Government Area. The bandits killed Reverend Yahaya Kambasiya and abducted over 20 worshippers during a violent raid in Kaduna State on Tuesday.
The attack occurred in the Farin Dutse community, Kauru Local Government Area, shocking residents and church members.
Witnesses said the gunmen invaded the area at midnight, shooting into the air and forcing villagers to flee for safety.
According to the United Church of Christ in Nigeria (UCCN/HEKAN), Reverend Kambasiya died after stepping out of hiding, thinking the attackers had gone. Tragically, one of the gunmen shot him in the chest, killing him instantly.
The bandits then kidnapped over 20 people, including several members of the church congregation.
Church President Reverend Dr. Amos Kiri condemned the killing, describing it as cruel and senseless. He said the incident has left the Christian community heartbroken.
Moreover, he called on the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to act swiftly and rescue the abducted victims. He stressed that the attack reflects the worsening insecurity in rural areas.
Security sources confirmed that joint military and police teams have launched search operations in Kauru and neighboring communities. However, no arrests or rescues have been reported as of press time.
Locals said this marks the third major kidnapping in the area this year, intensifying fear and frustration among residents.
As the news of the Bandits attack spread online, Nigerians demanded immediate government intervention. Many social media users expressed anger over repeated killings and kidnappings in Kaduna, urging authorities to protect innocent citizens.
