Gunmen Attack Kebbi School, Abduct 25 Girls, Kill Vice Principal

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the Gunmen attack on Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State. The attack occurred early hours of Monday at about 4:00am.

The armed men used sophisticated weapons to force their way into the school compound before opening fire. They killed Vice Principal Hassan Makuku during the raid, according to the command’s spokesperson. The gunmen also shot another staff member, Ali Shehu, who sustained an injury in his right hand.

Police tactical units immediately engaged the attackers in a gun battle, yet the gunmen escaped with 25 schoolgirls. The suspects scaled the school fence and moved the girls to an unknown location before reinforcements arrived.

Meanwhile, the police deployed additional tactical squads, soldiers, and local vigilantes to pursue the kidnappers. They are now combing forests and known bandit routes to rescue the abducted students.

Furthermore, Commissioner of Police Bello M. Sani reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Kebbi State. He appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of ongoing rescue operations.

He also emphasized that security agencies would continue tracking the attackers until every student returns safely.

Additionally, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, confirmed that the government is monitoring developments closely. He revealed that the exact number of abducted students is still under verification by authorities.

The school Vice Principal 

The Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida, visited the school to assess the situation on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris. Idris assured citizens that the government is working with security agencies to restore peace and rescue the missing girls.

This incident has sparked renewed concerns about school safety in northern Nigeria. Many residents fear continued threats to education as kidnappers target schools in remote communities.
