Hackers Breach Dangote and Otedola’s Phones, Demand Huge Ransom

Hackers have breached the mobile phones of Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola in a coordinated cyberattack that targeted both businessmen within days. Sources close to the two men confirmed the incidents to TheCable. They stated that the attackers gained access to the devices and immediately issued financial demands.

Otedola’s phone was compromised once. However, hackers attacked Dangote’s device twice within forty-eight hours. The intruders reportedly used the breaches to demand ransom, although the exact amount remains unclear. Moreover, insiders say both men are still working to regain full control of their phones.

Details about the data accessed during the attacks remain unknown. Additionally, it is not yet confirmed whether law enforcement agencies are involved in the investigation. TheCable reports that the hackers approached both businessmen directly, raising concerns about the sophistication of the breach.

Dangote and Otedola have maintained a long-standing friendship and business relationship. They frequently appear together at major economic events. Recently, Otedola attended Dangote’s announcement about expanding his refinery from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day. He praised Dangote’s ambition and described him as “Africa’s pride,” stressing that the refinery project would benefit future generations.

The incidents have raised wider concerns about cybercrime in Nigeria. Many experts now call for stronger enforcement, better digital awareness, and clearer protocols for reporting breaches. As the situation develops, Nigerians await official updates on the hackers and the ongoing recovery process.
