Nollywood Actor Baba Ijesha Listed in Lagos State S*x Offenders Register

Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, is now listed in the Lagos State S*x Offenders Register. The Lagos State Domestic and S*xual Violence Agency confirmed the update after he completed his prison term for abusing a minor. The Nollywood actor was convicted in 2021 for s*xually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

The Lagos State Government immediately denied reports claiming that the Court of Appeal cleared him. Attorney-General Lawal Pedro described the rumours as false and dangerous. He said the conviction still stands and has not been overturned by any court.

Pedro warned individuals spreading the claims to stop immediately. He noted that the misinformation could mislead the public. He also stressed that the state remains committed to transparency in s*xual offence cases.

The Domestic and S*xual Violence Agency repeated this position through a post on X. The agency quoted the Attorney-General’s confirmation that Baba Ijesha’s name remains on the official register. It added that the listing follows Section 37 of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law of 2021.

The agency explained that the action supports ongoing efforts to protect minors. It said the register helps strengthen accountability and provides residents with verified information. Additionally, it noted that the listing promotes public awareness and encourages safer communities.

Officials urged Lagos residents to ignore false statements trending online. They also encouraged citizens to rely on official updates for accurate details. Meanwhile, the case continues to attract public attention due to the actor’s past notoriety.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable groups. It said the listing will remain part of its long-term strategy against sexual violence. The move also sends a clear message to offenders across the state.
