A military officer urged Boko Haram fighters to surrender unconditionally, arguing Nigeria still needs them for peace. He said many former insurgents can reform and contribute positively to national development.
According to him, “repentant Boko Haram fighters can hold any position in this country, even become president.” He insisted that clinging to violence wastes their potential and time.
Furthermore, he called on Boko Haram collaborators to encourage surrender and reconciliation, stressing collective effort as key to national healing. He warned that failing to reconcile would prolong Nigeria’s instability.
He explained that rehabilitation and reintegration programs already exist, allowing ex-fighters to rebuild their lives. He added that communities will accept them, provided they renounce violence sincerely. He emphasised that dropping arms is not only a personal decision but a national duty.
This, he asserted, would restore peaceful coexistence across Nigeria. He stated, “This is a call to action: surrender your weapons and help us restore peace.”
